Are we supposed to remove the film that looks like a screen protector?

I had every intention of leaving it there as additional "insurance", but it's already terribly scratched from the edge of my credit card rubbing against it when my portfolio case is closed. SURELY Gorilla Glass 5 can take a beating from a stinking credit card without scratching!
