Galaxy J5 problems

I wonder if anyone can help me , or direct me to a more technical forum if not , with some J5 problems?
The Home Button and the return and apps menu buttons on either side of it are being troublesome/ non functioning and I need to get at them to see if it is the buttons or the link cable from them.
Although I can buy the link cable quite readily no one seems to give instructions on how to get to the cable/ buttons on the phone itself. The only way I can see this being done is to remove the whole front glass and lcd which is very risky and could see the glass or lcd break.
Am I missing the obvious and is there a simpler way to do this?
Any help or suggestions would be very gratefully received.
