Have you been able to open/edit/save other Word .doc files and the problem is just this one file you're referring to? Have you tried opening this one file using Google Docs or some other Word capable app?
If this is the first time you've used that Word app on your Tab and it's not working properly to open other files too try reinstalling it. Go into your Settings >> Application manager, find the Word app, tap the 'Force stop' button, then the 'Clear data' button (which will wipe the settings and cache), and then the 'Uninstall' button. Now go back to Google Play, install the Word app again, and see it this makes any difference.
You might also want to install a file manager, although I'm guessing Samsung has added one to your Tab already. Anyway, 'File Expert' is a feature-rich, third-party file manager that will be more functional than the default one.

Open up the File Expert app, navigate to wherever that file is located, and tap on it. If a popup message asks you what app to use, select the MS Word app so it is confirmed to be the default for .doc files in your Tab's file associations.
