Do you think it's a good idea to run a giveaway here?

Hi,
I ask so because I had intended to run a big giveaway yesterday for it's my first day here. I wanted to say hellos to you guys with gifts, but failed. I did not know why, but just could not sumbit.
It seems there is no update in the subforum"Contests and Giveaways" for quite a long time. So I guess members here do not like those activities. Is that right?
