Having trouble getting the battery to charge

I've tried different cords with no success. Sometimes I plug it in and it says fully charged in 5 or 6 hours or whatever,and sometimes it says twice that or even more than a day. I've had it plugged in for almost 6 hours now and it's actually gone down to 4%. It's been off and on slow for a week or two. Is my battery going? Is it hard to change it? Is there a video showing how? I can't afford a new phone right now. I've had my phone for 2 yrs.
